Aikido is an effective, nonviolent system of self-defense. In fact, many police agencies throughout the world include aikido techniques in their arrest tactics training. Yet the founder of aikido, Moreihei Ueshiba Sensei, talked of his creation as the art of peace and reconciliation. He often commented that the primary goal of aikido was to make better human beings.

Congratulations to our two new black belts_ Tommy Biodic & Josef Stastny!

On Saturday, February 25, 2012, we hosted a special morning training session with Ken Nisson sensei, 6th dan and Chief Instructor of Aikido of Modesto. The two hour training was followed by two black belt exams. We had a full mat with many visitors from other bay area dojo. Nisson Sensei, who just returned from an extended retreat on Kauai, taught an absolutely wonderful class on the principles of relaxation and connection. By the end of the class the dojo was alive with heartwarming, high energy which offered a perfect atmosphere for our black belt candidates to navigate their exams. Both Tommy Biondic and Josef Stastny shined brightly with enthusiasm, technical skill and aiki spirit! It was a joyous day for our dojo community! Congratulations Tommy & Josef on your accomplishments!!!

We had a wonderful Children's Test Event today!

I have been very remiss in posting entries to our news page. Is it too late to make a New Years resolution !

We hosted a Children's Test Event today and the kids lit up the mat with their enthusiasm. Each of our candidates showed poise, spirited energy and skill!
