Aikido, the modern martial art!

Aikido is an effective, nonviolent system of self-defense. In fact, many police agencies throughout the world include aikido techniques in their arrest tactics training. Yet the founder of aikido, Moreihei Ueshiba Sensei, talked of his creation as the art of peace and reconciliation. He often commented that the primary goal of aikido was to make better human beings.

Aikido of Modesto’s ‘Weapons Seminar by the River’ was wonderful!

This afternoon I returned from a fun-filled weekend at Aikido of Modesto ’s ‘Weapons Seminar by the River’. I was enjoying my stay at Connie Arthur’s Lone Tree Farm so much that I stayed an extra night! This was the third annual ‘Weapons Seminar’ that Connie, a senior student and instructor at AOM, has hosted on her hundred acre horse ranch located near Lake Don Pedro in the Sierra Nevada foothills. The seminar was held in a secluded meadow on th e banks of the Tuolumne River which runs along the edge her property.
