Aikido, the modern martial art!

Aikido is an effective, nonviolent system of self-defense. In fact, many police agencies throughout the world include aikido techniques in their arrest tactics training. Yet the founder of aikido, Moreihei Ueshiba Sensei, talked of his creation as the art of peace and reconciliation. He often commented that the primary goal of aikido was to make better human beings.

This evening's Children's Test Event was delightful!

We are having two Test Events this week. We held the first one tonight and five of our young ones were promoted. I so enjoy watching their confidence and skill come into focus revealed in how brightly they shine!

On Saturday,12/20, we will hold our last Test Event of the year. The children's class will meet from 9 - 10:30 am and six of our young one are scheduled for belt exams. Our adults and teens hit the mat from 11 am to 12:30 pm for training and testing. We have one teen scheduled for a teen belt review and two teens and our "big guy" scheduled for adult kyu exams.

Congratulations to tonight's candidates on their promotions. All of your tests were wonderful:

Evan Nusaputra / white belt + one stripe.
Dan- Anh Hoang / yellow belt.
Vy-Han Ngo / yellow belt.
Yen-Vy Ngo / yellow belt.

For the last week or so I have been focused on cleaning up dojo 'loose ends'_ those things that have fallen through the cracks while I've been attempting to keep up with the stuff that needs to be handled today. You too might have experience with this 'cleanup' process. It's so strange... as I complete each task, I seem to find more 'loose ends'! Ah well, so it is... stay on course AND go with the flow !
