Aikido, the modern martial art!

Aikido is an effective, nonviolent system of self-defense. In fact, many police agencies throughout the world include aikido techniques in their arrest tactics training. Yet the founder of aikido, Moreihei Ueshiba Sensei, talked of his creation as the art of peace and reconciliation. He often commented that the primary goal of aikido was to make better human beings.

Greetings on a beautiful day that heralds the coming of spring.

Chip tested on December 22, 2007. He did a really fine presentation in front of a testing board composed of Wendy Palmer sensei (6th dan_ Aikido of Tamalpais), Jim Alvarez sensei (5th dan_ Shinrei dojo / Aikido of Livermore) and myself. We celebrated in high spirits with an afternoon potluck party. We are all proud of Chip's accomplishment . Chip is one of our assistant instructors instructing our Monday kid's class. They tease that he's mean Chip-san... and they love him and miss him whenever life calls him elsewhere.

Congratulations on your promotions_ Test Event, February 12!

I just got a very nice email from Chris Hooper reminding me that I haven't posted the promotions from last weeks Test Event. Thank you, Chris_ your reminder was well received! Last week seems like a month ago... with each passing year, the days seem to pass exponentially faster. I need all the help that I can get when it comes to staying current!

All of our test candidates successfully navigated their exams. Also, last night Joshua inquired as to when the photos will be posted. Yes, they will appear... hopefully by early next week.
