Welcome to our new Testimonial Page!Posting a 'testimonial page' on our website has been on our dojo to-do list for many years. It just never seemed to make it to the top of the list. Recently, I received a very sweet email from Jamie Nallas and her loving, supportive words inspired me to push aside other projects and get to work! Thank you all for taking the time to put into words what you feel in your hearts! Posted by Skys Sensei on August 17,2008.

My husband and I have always been quite adamant advocates of resolution of conflict through the use of constructive verbal communication. Alas, the world is not always responsive to that ideal.
Our 6 year old son recently has experienced several incidents in school where bullying was involved. Fortunately, none of those incidents were serious, nevertheless, he came to us and asked if we could teach him how not to feel so, in his words, "helpless".
Besides being thoughtful and empathetic, our son also tends to avoid conflict and competition, so karate, tae kwon do, and silat are out. My husband suggested aikido because of it's philosophy of defense. We eventually made list and checked out the dojos. When we finally visited Aiki Zenshin, we instantly noticed the absence of trophies. Non-competition driven, check. We stepped into the tatami room, and were instantly greeted with not a combative athletic studio, but a large, clean, and quiet place of reflection. Calming peace, check. Except for the occasional cooing of several doves, the utter silence almost compels you to forget the days worries and just exist. |

A former SJSU aikido student survives being hit by a mini-van! April 16, 2009. |

Sometimes I get a bit overwhelmed with the responsibilities of being a full-time aikido instructor. The good news is that I absolutely love the art! I also benefit from hearing many wonderful stories of how training in aikido has transformed people's lives and has saved them from injury and even death. Here's an email from a student that trained with me at SJSU many years ago. The ripples continue on... Sensei Skys,
I don't know if you remember me or not, but I trained at SJSU many years ago. Though I have not been training in a while I wanted to thank you for not only the martial art skills, but also life lessons I learned in your class.
On April 21st those skills became necessary as I was struck by a minivan while roller blading home from work. The falling skills that I had practiced all those years prevented me from not only getting killed, but also avoided broken bones. I miss training and one day, after I heal, I hope to start training again. With fondest regards, Sarah Adams Smile, Live, Laugh, Love and God Bless. |

Aikido of Fremont is the BEST place to take or to introduce yourself to Martial Arts in general. It is not a corporate cookie cutter dojo like many karate/taekwondo places you find in the Bay Area. This dojo has an absolutely phenomenal sense of community and all practitioners are there to help in any way they can. There is a lot of diversity in this dojo and everyone there is kind, welcoming and generous with their guidance. All ages are welcome and interact with one another. The mat in this dojo is HUGE! The dojo overall is very clean and always has a great, positive energy. They offer a free trial - which is awesome to be able to just try it out for a test run. oh ya, and they also have a weapons class - sweet!!! |
