| Welcome to Aiki Zenshin Dojo |
Aikido, the modern martial art! Aikido is an effective, nonviolent system of self-defense. In fact, many police agencies throughout the world include aikido techniques in their arrest tactics training. Yet the founder of aikido, Moreihei Ueshiba Sensei, talked of his creation as the art of peace and reconciliation. He often commented that the primary goal of aikido was to make better human beings. At Aiki Zenshin Dojo we strive to honor the vision of Ueshiba Sensei. I hope that you will take time to check out our web site and the links that we have included. If you have any questions, feel free to send e-mail or give me a call. Foremost, I cordially invite you to visit our Dojo, observe any of our classes, and get a feeling for our community. You know that ole saying about_ burning the candle at both ends. I am guilty as charged! I came back with a chest cold as proof… and my brain is running a bit slow, yet I have managed to process photos from the trip . There are shots from the ‘photo-op’ with the senior instructors on Saturday morning, an outdoor tanto dori (knife taking) class that Troy Farrow (Boulder Aikikai) taught on Thursday and an outing a bunch of us made to Carbondale on Wednesday (sight seeing day). For you curious folks_ the party was a whole lot of fun. The theme for the evening was ‘pirates and ninjas’. The senior teachers were all wearing pirate hats with additional theme accessories such as eye patches, scarves and curved blades. Ikeda Sensei wore a soft cap atop a wig of long dreadlocks which definitely got in the way of his eating. I was sitting on the opposite side of the large dining room and as he struggled to keep the errant hairs out of his face, I struggled to eat my own dinner due to finding the sight so funny. All of the teachers were such great sports_ their gracious spirits infused the room with joyous appreciation. Oh… the ninjas were no where to be seen. The DJ had real waist length dreads and she laid out a mix that had just about everybody dancing. It was definitely a party to remember! Posted by Skys Sensei. |
