Aikido, the modern martial art!

Aikido is an effective, nonviolent system of self-defense. In fact, many police agencies throughout the world include aikido techniques in their arrest tactics training. Yet the founder of aikido, Moreihei Ueshiba Sensei, talked of his creation as the art of peace and reconciliation. He often commented that the primary goal of aikido was to make better human beings.

Anila faces one of our big guys!

Anila Kalonia has participated in our kids program for three and a half years. She is a joy on the mat_eager to learn and spirited. Over the years she has participated in a number of public demonstrations and always shines brightly. Anila enjoys a challenge and I enjoy providing the opportunity for her to have one ! For her 1st teen review I chose our 'big man', Art-san, as her uke. She was definitely taken back for a moment since he towered over her by nearly two feet. However, once the test was underway, she didn't cower or hold back. She got down to business and navigated her test with a stellar display of skill and composure.

Congratulations Anila on your advancement to your 1st teen rank_ teen green belt / low.
