Aikido, the modern martial art!

Aikido is an effective, nonviolent system of self-defense. In fact, many police agencies throughout the world include aikido techniques in their arrest tactics training. Yet the founder of aikido, Moreihei Ueshiba Sensei, talked of his creation as the art of peace and reconciliation. He often commented that the primary goal of aikido was to make better human beings.

On the road to Summer Camp in the Rockies 2009!

My alarm went off at 4 oclock on Sunday morning (7/19) and by 4:30 I was in Peter Denyer's car on the way to the San Jose airport to catch my flight out to Denver. I sleep walked my way through the terminal and onto the plane without incident. The flight was very comfortable. Shortly after my arrival I was greeted in 'baggage claim' by my good friend, Jay Lindholm. Jay is the chief instructor of South Austin Aikido. The rest of the Austin contingent_ Todd Kammerer, Tommy, Charles, David and Steven_were waiting at the curb in two rental cars. Once my luggage was loaded, I was offered a front passenger seat, got buckled in, was handed breakfast and we were on the road!!! These guys really take care of me... I'll share more about this in due time.
