Welcome to Aiki Zenshin Dojo

Aikido, the modern martial art!

Aikido is an effective, nonviolent system of self-defense. In fact, many police agencies throughout the world include aikido techniques in their arrest tactics training. Yet the founder of aikido, Moreihei Ueshiba Sensei, talked of his creation as the art of peace and reconciliation. He often commented that the primary goal of aikido was to make better human beings.

At Aiki Zenshin Dojo we strive to honor the vision of Ueshiba Sensei. I hope that you will take time to check out our web site and the links that we have included. If you have any questions, feel free to send e-mail or give me a call. Foremost, I cordially invite you to visit our Dojo, observe any of our classes, and get a feeling for our community.

Thank you, Aikido of Modesto!

Image Last weekend I taught a two day seminar for the teachers and students of Aikido of Modesto .  I had a really wonderful time!  Attendance was a bit light due to 'end of summer vacations' and other conflicting activities.  Yet, spirits were high and we did a lot of good training... and eating!

Aikido of Modesto_ thank you for opening to the material that I presented... thank you for your focus and sweat... thank you for your graciousness and generosity!

On Saturday evening I got to take in some cowboy culture...

ImageI spent Saturday evening on Connie Arthur's horse ranch, Lone Tree Farm .  It's always a sweet treat to spend time on her place taking in the expansive beauty.  I am called to a quiet place in my 'soul' where all is well.  The 'babies' have grown a lot since I saw them in May when I participated in the "Weapons Seminar."  The 'young ones' are still quite curious and, much to Connie's dismay, pulled down about 300 yards of fencing on Sunday morning.Image

On Saturday evening Connie invited me to join her at fundraiser for "Community Hospice" which was held at the Odd Fellows Hall in Knights Ferry.  Oh yeah... a tasty cowboy bbq, lots of beef!  Heard some great bluegrass music and was delighted with cowboy poetry readings!!!  Thank you, Connie!
