Welcome to Aiki Zenshin Dojo

Aikido, the modern martial art!

Aikido is an effective, nonviolent system of self-defense. In fact, many police agencies throughout the world include aikido techniques in their arrest tactics training. Yet the founder of aikido, Moreihei Ueshiba Sensei, talked of his creation as the art of peace and reconciliation. He often commented that the primary goal of aikido was to make better human beings.

At Aiki Zenshin Dojo we strive to honor the vision of Ueshiba Sensei. I hope that you will take time to check out our web site and the links that we have included. If you have any questions, feel free to send e-mail or give me a call. Foremost, I cordially invite you to visit our Dojo, observe any of our classes, and get a feeling for our community.

Peace is a life practice...

A big "howdy" from Austin, Texas!

Yesterday I arrived in Austin to teach my 7th annual seminar at South Austin Aikido.  It's such a treat for me to be able to spend some time with all my Austin aikido friends.  We had our first training last night and as usual spirits were high and the students and teachers were ready to 'rock out'!

There's a joke going around_ as posted on Facebook by David Huffaker, "It was really nice of Sunny Skys Sensei to bring us rain!"  The area has been suffering a severe drought for two years.  The rains started yesterday in the late morning and the locals are very grateful that the 'water' keeps fallin'!  Right this minute I am sitting at Jay and Gail Linholm's kitchen table listening to and watching the rain pouring down.

We're off to a late lunch and then on to one of my favorite dessert shops.  We'll be fueled up for the Friday night class!
