A former SJSU aikido student survives being hit by a mini-van! April 16, 2009.

Sometimes I get a bit overwhelmed with the responsibilities of being a full-time aikido instructor.  The good news is that I absolutely love the art!  I also benefit from hearing many wonderful stories of how training in aikido has transformed people's lives and has saved them from injury and even death.  Here's an email from a student that trained with me at SJSU many years ago.  The ripples continue on...

Sensei Skys,

I don't know if you remember me or not, but I trained at SJSU many years ago.  Though I have not been training in a while I wanted to thank you for not only the martial art skills, but also life lessons I learned in your class.

On April 21st those skills became necessary as I was struck by a minivan while roller blading home from work.  The falling skills that I had practiced all those years prevented me from not only getting killed, but also avoided broken bones.  I miss training and one day, after I heal, I hope to start training again.

With fondest regards, Sarah Adams

Smile, Live, Laugh, Love and God Bless.
